VIOLET ETERNAL return with their second album, “Azure Stardust”, marking an important new chapter for the Japanese-Italian melodic metal band. Following their 2024 debut “Reload the Violet”, the new album sees VIOLET ETERNAL evolve from the original collaboration between guitarist Jien Takahashi (Majustice, Michael Vescera Project) and vocalist Ivan Giannini (Derdian, The 7th Guild, ex-Vision Divine) into a fully established five-piece completed by guitarist Andrea Cappellari (Nekomata), bassist Ollie Bernstein (Illusion Force, Fiverings, Michael Vescera Project) and drummer YAMATO (Neu, UCHUSENTAI, Michael Vescera Project).

While the debut introduced the band’s combination of European melodic metal and a distinctly Japanese melodic sensibility, “Azure Stardust” develops that foundation with a broader and more dynamic approach. Strong vocal melodies remain at the heart of the songwriting now supported by greater contrasts between high-speed power metal, heavier mid-tempo passages, ballad-oriented moments and more expansive arrangements.

The five-piece format also gives the music a richer instrumental dimension. Ivan Giannini’s commanding vocals are complemented by the twin-guitar work of Jien Takahashi and Andrea Cappellari, whose different styles move naturally between harmonized melodies, technical passages and expressive lead work. Ollie Bernstein brings additional weight and definition on bass while YAMATO’s precise and energetic drumming drives the faster material and provides a solid foundation throughout the record. Acoustic guitars and atmospheric textures further broaden the sonic palette without moving away from the band’s melodic metal roots.

The diversity of “Azure Stardust” emerges clearly across its ten tracks. “Azure Explosion” captures the band at its fastest and most direct, exceeding 197 BPM while combining relentless momentum with a strong melodic chorus and prominent twin-guitar interplay. “Singularity” takes a different direction with its heavier mid-tempo character, balancing a measured rhythmic foundation with the band’s instinct for melody. “The End Begins” introduces acoustic elements and a more spacious atmosphere, adding another dimension to the album’s varied songwriting.

This wider scope reaches its fullest expression in the closing “RE Sky”, an approximately nine-minute composition that moves through different sections and moods bringing progressive development into the band’s melodic metal framework. The track also features a significant guest contribution from the late Ukrainian-American keyboardist Vitalij Kuprij (Artension, Ring Of Fire, Majustice), whose piano performance adds another melodic layer to the album’s finale.

“Azure Stardust” was mixed and mastered by Dennis Ward at TrakShak Studios. His production gives the album a powerful, clearly defined sound while preserving the individual performances and the detail of its layered arrangements.

The record reflects the international background of VIOLET ETERNAL bringing together the traditions of European power metal with melodic and harmonic elements associated with Japanese metal and rock. Rather than simply repeating the formula established on “Reload the Violet”, the band uses this combination as the basis for a more varied album moving confidently between speed, melody, heavier passages and more elaborate compositions.

With “Azure Stardust”, VIOLET ETERNAL take the identity established on their debut and move it forward through a complete band line-up and a more developed musical range. High-speed melodic metal, twin-guitar harmonies, powerful vocals, acoustic textures and progressive touches coexist within a cohesive record that remains firmly focused on melody and songwriting, defining the next stage of the band’s evolution.
