"Under The Electric Tower" is the fourth full-length album from Italian progressive metal band Beriedir, presenting the next stage of the modern, alternative direction introduced with 2025’s "Liminal Spaces". Built around a blend of progressive metal, alternative influences and melodic death metal, the album pairs expansive melodies and evocative atmospheres with harsh vocals and crushing breakdowns, bringing the band’s melodic and heavier sides into a focused, contemporary sound.
At the heart of the album lies a reflection on the passage of time and the way memories continue to shape the present. Its imagery evokes a hazy summer captured in an old Polaroid: peaceful gardens, open fields, angel statues and the silhouette of an electric tower form the backdrop to songs dealing with grief, alienation, trauma and the difficulty of leaving the past behind.
Across its ten tracks, the record approaches these themes from different perspectives. “Dirt” confronts obsessive thoughts about mortality, while “In June” reflects on loss through memories of places that can no longer be experienced in the same way. “Red Spider Lily” portrays painful recollections suddenly resurfacing, and “Trauma” examines the consequences of suffering passed from one generation to another. Elsewhere, “Somewhere Else” explores the search for a place that truly feels like home, while “Onto Deaf Ears” captures the frustration of speaking without being heard. The journey eventually leads to “Paperboats”, a closing piece centred on acceptance and the act of allowing thoughts and memories to drift away with time.
Musically, "Under The Electric Tower" brings together the contrasting sides of Beriedir’s identity. Solemn, almost celestial passages coexist with a heavier contemporary metal approach, while melodic sections can suddenly give way to aggressive vocals and powerful breakdowns. This contrast between elegance and intensity also reflects the band’s distinctive visual identity, characterised by angelic imagery, white stage outfits and a theatrical live presence.
The album was produced and recorded by vocalist and keyboardist Stefano Nusperli at Lighthouse Studio, with mixing and mastering handled by Simone Mularoni at Domination Studio. Nadia Sampellegrini contributes backing vocals on selected tracks and created the album artwork, strengthening the connection between the music and the visual concept surrounding the record.
"Under The Electric Tower" captures Beriedir at a particularly introspective point in their career, bringing progressive structures, modern heaviness and melodic sensitivity together in a cohesive album where personal experience and evocative imagery become part of the same narrative.
