Biography
Eregion, an epic melodic power metal band from Italy, was born in the spring of 2012 from an idea by Giorgio Colbacchini, initially intended as a metal cover band. Recruiting his friends Gianluca “Odd” De Lotto on lead guitar, Silvio Brusa on bass, Davide Ferraris on drums, Mauro Colbacchini (Giorgio's brother) as lead vocalist, and Barbara Borgo as backing vocalist, the band began performing classics by Metallica, Iron Maiden, Sabaton, Hammerfall, Accept, and other metal legends.
Soon, however, their creative drive led them to write original music. Drawing inspiration from fantasy, Norse mythology, and history, Eregion crafted powerful, epic, and melodic compositions, culminating in their debut album, Lord of War (2014). Featuring nine tracks, the album reflected the band’s early journey and musical identity.
The band began performing widely, sharing stages with acts like Airborn and Drakkar. During this time, Barbara and Davide left the band, with Andrea Muscarello stepping in as drummer. Eregion continued to thrive, playing alongside Ancillotti, Paragon, Sound Storm, Skeletoon, and Eternal Silence, and further honing their sound. Their sophomore album, Age of Heroes, saw the addition of violinist Letiziamaria Gatti, enriching their symphonic elements and pushing their sound deeper into power metal territory.
Eregion underwent further lineup changes in 2021, welcoming Dario Fontana as their new vocalist. Following the tragic passing of bassist Silvio Brusa, Gengis Dave joined the band in 2022, while Letiziamaria Gatti departed. Now a five-piece, Eregion entered Elnor Studios, led by Mattia Stancioiu, to record their third album under Rockshots Records.
Eregion’s third album, Non Omnis Moriar (May 2024), marked another significant chapter in their journey. Described as epic, melodic, powerful, direct, and battle-starved, the album drew heavily from Viking history, mythology, and J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantastical worlds. Leaning further into power metal while retaining their signature sound, Non Omnis Moriar blends fast-paced anthems, heartfelt ballads, and bold explorations into new sonic realms. The album’s title, translating to “I will not die completely,” encapsulates themes of legacy and heroic deeds.
In November 2024, Eregion proudly announced two exciting developments. After performing live with the band for several months, violinist Katjia Di Giulio, known for her work with Eternal Silence, officially joined as a permanent member. Her artistry brings a dynamic new element to Eregion’s evolving sound, further enriching their blend of melodic power and epic storytelling.
Simultaneously, the band celebrated the Japanese release of Non Omnis Moriar via Ward Records. The album’s acclaim continues to resonate as Eregion expands their global reach.
With a lineup including Giorgio Colbacchini (guitar), Gianluca “Odd” De Lotto (guitar), Andrea Muscarello (drums), Dario Fontana (vocals), Gengis Dave (bass), and Katjia Di Giulio (violin), Eregion continues to captivate audiences. Their sound, inspired by icons like Ensiferum, Blind Guardian, Judas Priest, and Manowar, blends power metal, classic heavy metal, and symphonic elements into an immersive and cinematic experience.
Eregion remains steadfast in their mission to craft epic, melodic, and powerful music, inviting fans to embark on unforgettable journeys through history, mythology, and fantasy.
